Calm

It’s there…

I can see it for the first time in years…

But it’s still just beyond arm’s reach…

But then, it’s only been a week….

I suspect it’s gonna take longer than that to break the bad habit of living in panic mode…

I see now, just how much I needed this break…

So I could learn to calm down and live.

  1. love your post. i live with panic disorder and, through hard work and countless tears, i have learned how important it is to know what my triggers are and how to steer clear of them. when that fails (which it occasionally does), having something positive to focus on definitely helps me weather the storm. it’s comforting to know that i’m not the only one. i hope you have a wonderful anxiety-free weekend!

    • I could hug you for taking the time to post this MissMarlaNeely. It’s rare for me to come across anyone who gets it, like you seem to. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this comment, thank you so much! It’s a tough road we have to follow, but you are absolutely right: “having something positive to focus on” is the key. I’ve been dealing with this for 15 years, and I didn’t learn that until recently. It is the only thing that breaks through the anxiety. Thankfully, full-blown panic attacks have subsided in recent years, but the anxiety is still there. I still get dizzy, and every once in a while I feel the panic set in…..but that’s what I try to do – focus on the positive. It usually works :)

Thank you again, I appreciate it like you wouldn’t believe! You too! Have a totally anxiety-free weekend……knowing you made a positive difference for someone today :)

  2. Hi Stacy! You’re right my dear, calming down is difficult, because I think I can control everything. And that is exactly why I stress. You are soooooo right. I’m trying so hard to let some thing go this summer (on my self-imposed vacation from work). It’s good to know that someone else has been there and conquered it. Thanks for taking the time to post this!

    Happy Thursday! xoxo

  3. Are you on vacation?!! So jealous. :)

Learning to calm down is difficult. I think it comes from thinking we can control everything. Well, that’s how I always used to stress the best. When I learned how to stop trying to control everything about my life, things got so much easier. Gave my mind a break.

Anyway, I hope you have a great vacation!! And thanks for the photos!! They really take me away! :)

  4. I hope you don’t need to spend too much time undoing your habits of worry and panic! I still always think about work on my days off…such a hard habit to break. Quite unfortunate, too. I suppose that’s what makes us good employees, though!

In exciting news, I just returned from the first group interview for the food manager position, and I’m feeling mostly confident. Next comes presentations – and I’m bound to be writing more about my ideas soon. Just so busy lately!

I hope you’re enjoying your time – have you been able to travel yet? If not, where’s the first stop?

    • Hi there!! :)
I think i need more time undoing my worry and panic habits than i thought! I’ll be happy when I find that ‘happy medium’ of work/relax rather than worry/panic. Working on it, and it’s getting better. Slowly. :)

OH THAT IS GREAT NEWS dear! I’ve been wanting to ask, but didn’t want to impose, so I’m SO glad you shared the news. I KNOW you’ll be great in the presentations. I’m so excited for you with this opportunity. It’ll be a great position!

I haven’t been able to travel yet. Hubby is trekking to La Crosse for his job next week, I’ll be joining him on that trip for sure. Even that little change of scenery helps, you know? Otherwise, I’ve really been enjoying the nice weather and time with my crafty side, lol :)

Have a wonderful rest of the week dear!

  5. Those photos are positively therapeutic! After a day of writing (boring writing = proposals), I could feel all that slip away. Ahhh! Perfect for a rainy Tuesday evening.

    • That’s exactly how I feel about these photos too. I’m SO glad they helped you relax too Ruth. They’re a nice way to end a stressful day….well the photos, and the Thin Man movies I have queued and ready to go :)

      Happy Wednesday dear! xoxo

  6. Oh Sarah, these pictures will definitely help you get there sooner! It will take you a while, but luckily you have lots of time to unwind and find that beautiful place you’ve been missing. Enjoy every moment of it:)

    • I have learned that much Mel, the water and being next to it relaxes me. Good thing Lake Michigan isn’t too far away, you know? :)

So excited for the announcement this morning!! I can’t wait!!

      Love ya girl….

  7. That’s the spirit! You’ll get the hang of this “calm” thing far quicker than you may believe. You’ve got one heckuva Summer ahead. Have a great night, Sarah.

    • Thanks John!!! I just have to unlearn a few things….ok, a lot of things, lol. I sure am looking forward to it though :)

I hope your week is going well dear! Make it a great one!
      xoxo

  8. I’m soooo glad you’re taking a break so you can drink deeply from all that calms you. Become one with peace. Give yourself permission to truly take one minute at a time. Absorb all that each moment offers, stick your toe in it and then immerse yourself completely.

I sound like I’m experienced at achieving peace and calmness. I’m working on it just like you are. We’ll get there and when we do….ahhhhhhh…it’ll be ahhhhhhsome!

    Have a great Tuesday, Sarie.
